一九五一年末,潮州大锣鼓形式首次搬上了新中国的文艺舞台。是党的“古为今用、推陈出新”的文艺方针,使潮州大锣鼓从只用于“游神赛会”等封建迷信活动以及民间风俗活动助兴、广场或游行演奏形式一跃而真正成为一种舞台演奏艺术,一种人民群众喜爱的艺术,成为祖国的优秀文化宝藏。此后,它一直活跃于各种形式的文艺演出活动。参加过县、市、地区、省和全国的各种文艺汇演,多次获得各种优秀奖和表演奖。并于一九五七年参加第六届“世界青年联欢节”演出荣获金质奖章。通过不断地演出和传播,使其在国内外享有盛誉。随着大锣鼓的活跃而先后涌现出有
