中国禅宗经过六祖慧能弘扬之后,其佛性思想变得更加世俗化和平民化,较复杂的禅宗戒律变得简单化,达摩“凝住壁观”的禅法变成个人的日常生活方式。这一系列的禅宗特点,无疑最能迎合那些既有出世之想,又有人世之情的唐宋士大夫的精神需求。从此,禅宗不仅从山林大踏步进入市井,而且昂首进入士人视野。史书和禅宗灯录中,随处可以看到当时鼎鼎大名的宋代士大夫们与禅宗的紧密关系。其代表性的人物有王安石、苏轼、黄庭坚等。
After Zen Buddhism of the Chinese ancestry was carried forward, the Buddhist thought became more secularized and civilized. The more complex Zen precepts were simplified. History books and Zen lantern records, everywhere you can see the great names of the Song Dynasty scholar-officials and Zen close relationship. Its representative figures are Wang Anshi, Su Shi, Huang Tingjian and so on.
