1975年12月15日美国通信通用公司一通信分公司、国际商业机械公司及艾塔人寿和灾害保险公司三家私人企业签订了一项合同,联合出资成立一个“卫星商业系统”公司,由公司向休斯飞机公司订购三颗静止商用卫星,卫星以公司名称命名为“卫星商业系统”,英文缩写是“SBS”。这一联合卫星公司总投资为五亿美元。三家出资比例是:通信通用公司及国际商业机械公司各为41.3％;艾塔人寿和灾害保险公司17.4％。总公司设在弗吉尼亚州麦克莱恩。
On December 15, 1975, a contract was signed between three communications companies of General Electric Company, International Business Machines Corporation and Ata Life and Disaster Insurance Company to jointly establish a “satellite commercial system” company. Hughes Aircraft ordered three stationary commercial satellites, the satellite named “satellite commercial system” under the company name, the abbreviation is “SBS”. The joint satellite company has a total investment of 500 million U.S. dollars. The three funding ratios are: General Motors and International Business Machines each 41.3%; Eta Life Insurance and disaster insurance companies 17.4%. Headquartered in McLean, Virginia.
