肾小球肾炎是累及肾脏的一组疾病。典型特征是病变存在。肾脏的肾小球上，肾小球肾炎的分类取决于病因、免疫学特性和显微镜检。显微镜检的区分是根据损害的范围——肾小球肾炎可能呈弥漫性(影响整个肾小球)和局部性(影响部分肾小球)。
