第20届美国室内设计大奖赛颁奖仪式于1999年1月29日在纽约Waldorf-Astoria饭店举行。大赛分大型办公室、小型办公室、餐馆、饭店、健身中心、零售店、公共空间、娱乐场所、展馆、医院、教育场所及住宅12大类,共收到500名参赛者的作品。评委会由纽约Rockwell公司的David Rockwell等6名评委组成。 今年娱乐场所及饭店类大奖空缺。饭店 类太注重设计,而缺少了灵魂。小办公室、住宅及展馆类的竞争则异常激烈。 给人感觉最强烈、最有趣的是办公室设计。“办公室不再让人觉得象以前那样忙碌,显得自然、放松。”评委们同时也告诫明年的参赛者:“我们已看到太多的暴露管道和Aeron椅,多孔的金属板和有花纹的铝板也用得太多了。”评委们认为今年的设计缺少新型材料,新技术的应用远不及科技的发展。
The award ceremony for the 20th American Interior Design Grand Prix was held on January 29, 1999 at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York. The competition consists of 12 major categories of large offices, small offices, restaurants, restaurants, fitness centers, retail stores, public spaces, entertainment venues, exhibition halls, hospitals, educational venues, and residential buildings. A total of 500 contestants’ works were received. The jury consisted of six judges including David Rockwell of Rockwell, New York. This year’s awards for entertainment venues and hotels are vacant. The restaurant class is too design-oriented and lacks a soul. Competition in small offices, residences and exhibition halls is extremely fierce. The most intense and interesting one is the office design. “The office is no longer as busy as it used to be. It looks natural and relaxed.” The judges also warned the participants next year: “We have seen too many exposed pipes and Aeron chairs, porous metal plates and patterns. Aluminum plates are also used too much.” The judges believe that this year’s design lacks new materials, and the application of new technologies is far from the development of science and technology.
