为什么近代中国在相当长的时间里没有能够利用西方的工业革命技术实现经济长期增长?文章在一个标准的GPTs(General Purpose Technologies,一般用途技术)框架内分析了这一问题。首先,中国需要为工业革命做必要的准备;其次,晚清洋务派在引入西方先进技术的同时,自身又成为新的利益集团,阻碍西方先进技术在中国的进一步引入和扩散。利益集团阻碍新技术的引入是中国迟迟不能够转向西方工业革命技术一个非常重要的原因。
Why did not modern China, for a long period of time, be able to make use of the industrial revolutions in the West to achieve long-term economic growth? This article analyzes this issue within the framework of a standard General Purpose Technologies (GPTs). First of all, China needs to make the necessary preparations for the industrial revolution. Second, the late Qing Westernization School, while introducing advanced western technologies, has itself become a new interest group and hinders the further introduction and proliferation of advanced western technologies in China. It is a very important reason why China hinders the introduction of new technologies by the interest groups that it is too late for China to shift to Western industrial revolution technology.
