九十年代中后期几乎形成一个在观念性、语言探索和各种新媒介实验方面具有先锋水准的群体。有些女艺术家的艺术观念甚至比一些男性艺术家还更为理性。但她们的作品所关注的女性主题、女性意识和影像质感上的女性主义特征,还是适合作为一个现象框架和已经凸现的群体去观看。中国1990年代以来中国女性艺术的一个杰出进步,是通过语言进行的一种自我拯救。崔岫闻的创作思路一直从性别关系的视角来关注女性自身及女性作为一个元素在这个社会中存在所呈现出的一种问题,崔岫闻的“性别空间”也可谓性压抑与性渴望的直白,这恰恰是她的作品所展示的强烈的表现力。
