On May 3, 2008, the U.S. Navy's “North Carolina” attack submarine held a ceremony at the port of Wilmington, North Carolina. The submarine is the “Virginia” class fourth. As the U.S. Navy's attack-type nuclear submarines have always been an important force in the battle against the growing number of conventional submarines against its carrier battle group, and last month the well-known U.S. Defense magazine claimed that conventional submarines had brought to the United States Unprecedented threats and suggested that the Navy should develop new weapon systems to deal with this threat. Therefore, the official service of the “North Carolina” submarine once again raised the international community's concern about how the U.S. Navy should respond to the threat of conventional submarines.
