The influence of geology and geomorphology to living things, climate and soil on a large scale, such as the vertical distribution of mountains, has been discussed in many literatures. In a small area, the direct impact of geomorphology on mountain forestry soils has also been reflected in several works (Saiki Hideo, 1959; Wilde, 1958). This article only tries to discuss the influence of geology and geomorphology on soil types, traits, distribution and tree growth in the hilly area on the basis of some specific examples in Jiangsu Province.
