This paper presents the results of improving the aerodynamic performance of high-speed diesel locomotives. The perfection of aerodynamic performance of diesel locomotive can be determined by air resistance coefficient C_x. The results show that C_2 is not only related to the head and tail shapes of diesel locomotives, but also relates to the exhaust pipes, ventilation ducts and cylinders of diesel engines and other parts protruding from the outside of the vehicle body.
