The Frankord Arsenal in Philadelphia was responsible for the development of weapons launch control materials for the U.S. Army and for the design and development of several indoor day and night aiming systems in this area. This article specializes in the optical concepts and designs of the day and night passive periscope used in the five selected chariots. The M44, M50 and M55 periscope applications include catadioptric objective systems and the first generation of Class 3 intensifiers.
