白银厂黄铁矿型铜矿,是我国的一个大型铜矿床.它不仅为我国提供了大量的铜金属量,而且也以它特有的成矿条件,引起了国内外地质科技工作者的广泛注意和兴趣.历年来,先后曾有许多勘探、科研单位和大专院校进行了找矿和地质研究,取得了丰富的地质物化探资料.但是,由于两个露天矿将要相继闭坑、铜产量大幅度下降,因而解决资源接续、落实进一步找矿勘探的具体方向,便成为一个亟待解决的现实问题.为此,中国金属学会,中国地质学会,在经过充分的酝酿和准备以后,已于今年八月十五日——八月廿三日,在白银召开了历时九天的“白银地区找矿前景学术讨论会”.
