The levels of three endogenous hormones, IAA, GA3 and ZRs, in ovules and fibers were determined during several important stages of cotton fiber differentiation and development. The results showed that the content of IAA and ZRs in the first three days before flowering (ie, the initial period of cotton fiber cells) was very high. The content of GA3 in the first 5 to 15 days after flowering (the peak of fiber elongation) The content of IAA in the 35 days (ie secondary cell wall thickening) showed a linear upward trend, and the content of endogenous hormones in the ovule was significantly higher than that in the fiber. It can be seen that the differentiation of cotton fiber requires the combined action of auxin and cytokinin; GA3 promotes the elongation of fiber and ZRs inhibits the elongation of fiber; and the important factor that promotes the formation of secondary wall of fiber is IAA.
