The British eugenic movement in the first half of the twentieth century was an attempt by the middle and upper classes to solve population, economic and social problems in the name of eugenics. The eugenics scholars try to enhance the national efficiency of the Anglia nation by promoting the knowledge of eugenics, promoting the legislation of eugenics, raising the birth rate of the middle and upper classes, and lowering the fertility rate of the society. Although the eugenics eventually failed in Britain, it had a major impact on the way of thinking, social policy and the building of a welfare state in the upper middle class in Britain.
