早在19世纪,面对当时西方文学理论批评界的繁荣局面,曾有学者断言那是一个“批评的世纪”。实际上,就流派纷争、新的理论层出不穷、文学研究的疆界日益扩大和模糊等现象而言,20世纪才是真正的“批评的世纪”。到了20世纪最后的10年,全球化的浪潮席卷全世界,不少人甚至认为在当今这个高技术占统治地位的时代,文学已经死亡,理论就更加无人问津。而2000年7月29～31日在北京举行的“文学理论的未来:中国与世界”国际研讨会却又使文学理论再显辉煌。来自亚洲、北美、南美、欧洲和澳洲等地区的100余名文学理论家和文学研究者相聚北京,共同探讨全球化浪潮冲击下文学批评理论的未来前景,中国文学理论批评话语的建构以及中国的文学研究者与国际学术界的平等对话,20世纪中西方文论的历史回顾,文化研究与文化批评在中西方的不同形态,马克思主义与全球化理论,中西方比较文学的新进展,文学理论与文化研究的冲突与共融等理论课题。这是建国50多年来中国文学理论史上规模最大的一次盛会。会议由北京语言文化大学、美国加州大学厄湾分校、中国 As early as the 19th century, in the face of the prosperity of the critics of Western literary theory at the time, some scholars had asserted that it was a “century of criticism.” In fact, the twentieth century is the real “century of criticism” in the face of phenomena such as genre disputes, endless new theories, and increasingly widening and blurring of the boundaries of literary studies. By the last decade of the twentieth century, the tide of globalization swept the world. Many people even think that in today’s era of high-tech dominance, literature has died and the theory is even more unmanned. However, the International Symposium on the Future of Literary Theories: China and the World, held in Beijing on July 29-31, 2000, made the literary theory glorious again. More than 100 literary theorists and literary researchers from Asia, North America, South America, Europe and Australia gathered together in Beijing to discuss the future prospects of literary criticism under the impact of the tide of globalization, the construction of Chinese literary criticism discourse, Literary Researchers and International Academia, Historical Review of 20th Century Chinese and Western Literary Theories, Different Forms of Cultural Studies and Cultural Criticism in China and Western Countries, Marxism and Globalization, New Progress in Comparative Literature in China and the West, Literary Theory And cultural studies of conflict and communion and other theoretical topics.
