已有发现,内耳色素同影响耳蜗的某些病理过程有关。如耳毒性药物引起大鼠内耳色素吸收;白化豚鼠对卡那霉素无耳毒性反应,而正常豚鼠则引起耳蜗损害;白化豚鼠比有色豚鼠对噪声损害更敏感;接触噪声的黑人听阈比接触噪声的白人听阈低;美尼尔氏病内淋巴囊有较多色素沉着。
