荷尔德林直接继承了卢梭和席勒的思想使命，使近代的人性理念作为一种知的结构在诗的艺术中臻于完善。一如前两位诗人，荷尔德林在其诗的事业独立之前，经历了哲学的时期，对于理解他的诗艺，这是不容忽略的。在近代西方精神的发展过程中，哲学与诗（智慧）相辅相成，又各自确认了自身完整的独立性，构成了辉煌的历史画卷。如果说哲学实现了认识（理性）的飞跃，那么诗则要求生命（人的人性）的提升。了解这一历史，洞见它自身本有的现实及其与现代世界的区别，可谓温故而知新。
Holderlin directly inherited the ideological missions of Rousseau and Schiller, and made the concept of humanity in modern times perfect as a known structure in the art of poetry. As the first two poets, Holderlin experienced philosophical period before his poem career independence, which can not be neglected to understand his poetry.
