Falling from a height is a special form of blunt trauma in the city. The authors reviewed the experience of 160 patients who dropped from the first to seventh floor of the Accident and Emergency Department during the 36-month period at two hospitals in Downstate Medical Center, New York, including the diagnosis of injury, complications and causes of death. The average age of patients was 31.7 years (13 to 74 years); 123 males and 37 females. Twenty-six cases had been shocked to the emergency department, among which 23 cases were found to have hemorrhage by CT or angiography, and 22 cases were found to have retroperitoneal hemorrhage. Thirteen cases had visceral injuries in 14 cases, of which 6 cases (43%) were hollow organs perforated and only 1 case of hemorrhage; 32 cases of head injury, of which 17 cases of CT scan was negative, consciousness within 24 hours recovery, more than 15 cases of skull fracture and
