An inband multi-wavelength optical packet switching technology is introduced. In such optical switching, the optical header consists of a number of optical pulses having different wavelength values within the same communication channel as the optical load. Optical transmitter technologies including header generation and optical packet formation are discussed, including receiver technology for data recovery and optical switch node technology including routing. A simplified experiment demonstrates the principle of this optical exchange
