An ESP explosion occurred on February 18, 2015, at the Torrance Refinery at ExxonMobil in California. The role of electrostatic precipitator is to control pollutants, the working principle is to generate sparks through the activated disk to clear the catalyst powder. This spark is a potential source of ignition during normal operation. At the time of the incident, the refinery was preparing for segregation of fluidized catalytic cracking (FCC) units, during which pressure
