由河南省语委、河南大学承办的中国语文现代化学会第五次学术会议于2002年10月12至15日在开封市召开,全国各地近80位专家学者参加会议、宣讲论文。会议围绕“语文法和语文现代化”主题,就中国语文现代化的语言共同化、书面语口语化、文字简便化、信息数字化等方面的问题进行了充分的学术交流。会议组织观看了学会顾问周有光、王均两位先生关于语文现代化理论和实践的讲话录像。会议还选举产生了新一届理事会。北京大学苏培成教授继续担任会长,国家语委语用所副所长姚喜双教授担任常务副会
The 5th Academic Conference of Chinese Language Modernization Society, hosted by Henan Language Commission of Henan Province and Henan University, was held in Kaifeng City on October 12-15, 2002. Nearly 80 experts and scholars from all parts of the country attended the conference and preached papers. The conference centered on the theme of “Law of Languages and Modernization of Chinese Language” and conducted a full academic exchange on issues such as the commonalization of languages in Chinese language modernization, the colloquialism of written language, the simplification of characters and the digitization of information. The meeting organized and watched the speech videos of the academic consultants Zhou Youguang and Wang Jun both on the theory and practice of Chinese modernization. The meeting also elected a new council. Prof. Su Peicheng, Peking University, continued to serve as president and Prof. Yao Xisuan, deputy director of the National Language Committee of Pragmatics, acted as executive vice president
