威廉·莱斯在《自然地控制》一书中指出,现代科学对自然的控制力加强不是转移或削弱了对人的控制,而是加强了对人的控制。本文简要叙述“控制自然”这一观点的历史根源,威廉·莱斯对这一观点的新诠释。从整个人类社会发展来看,这一诠释敲响人类生态警钟,人们接受莱斯的观点,开始采取措施来挽救正在恶化的生态;局限性是过于依赖伦理的进步而具有乌托邦色彩,对当代社会的基本矛盾的认识不够全面。
In his book Nature Control, William Rice pointed out that the strengthening of the control of nature by modern science does not shift or weaken the control of human beings, but strengthens human control.
