Modernist writers often focus on embedding music in literary works, using music to imply topics in literary works, or making up for lack of literary expression by the ineffability of music. As one of the writers who opened literary modernism, Oscar Wilde, the British writer, shows this in his masterpiece The Portrait of Dorian Gray and other works. The soundscapes in his works are integrated with other sensual depictions and stereoscopically presented the aestheticist views of creation.
