在当代,任何讨论书法的企图都是勇敢的冒险。其危险性在于,今人所谓的“书法”与古人传统意义的“书法”不是同样的概念。传统上的书法其本体是清晰的,无非就是写字的艺术,但其价值层面却是混沌的,其评判标准涉及到书写者的道德、学识、修养和地位等方方面面;当代书法其价值层面是相对清晰的,即“艺术性”成为检验书法作品的最高标准,然而书法的本体却陷入长期的混乱之中,至今尚未寻觅出方向,一个最尖锐的责难和困惑就是:到底什么是书法?
In the contemporary era, any attempt to discuss calligraphy is a brave adventure. The danger is that the so-called “calligraphy” of today is not the same concept as the “calligraphy” of the ancient tradition. Traditionally, its ontology is clear and nothing more than the art of writing, but its value is chaotic. Criteria for its evaluation involve the writer’s morality, knowledge, accomplishment and status. The value of contemporary calligraphy is relative Clear, that is, “art” has become the highest standard of testing calligraphy. However, the body of calligraphy has plunged into long-term chaos and no direction has been found so far. One of the most pointed censure and confusion is: What is calligraphy in the end?
