Congestive heart failure (CHF) is a common cause of various causes, with an estimated 3.5 to 4 million Americans having chronic CHF. According to the Framingham study, the incidence (the number of new cases per year) is 3.7 ‰ for males and 2.5 ‰ for females. From 45 to 75 years of age every 10-year-old heart rate more than doubled.
