Hawthorne's study was an experiment conducted at the Hawthorne plant of the United States Western Electric Company in the 1820s. The experiment is to determine how much illumination is needed to maximize the worker's productivity. However, the initial results disappointed researchers: there is no absolute relationship between lighting intensity and worker productivity. Later, the practice was changed: the power of the lamp was the same for each conversion, giving the worker a false impression that the brightness was greater.
