媒介批评是用解释学的方法对媒介和新闻作品进行解读，通过剖视文本把媒体和外部世界的关系或新闻的意义提示给受众。新闻文本是一个思想载体，对这个文本世界的充分体悟和分析，才能使人们达到对媒体和新闻的真正理解。克服文本与解读者之间的陌生和距离，和文本融合在一起，从而同化文本的意义，并创造另一个文本，把批评的见地和机智表现出来，是媒介批评的完整过程。媒介批评最终要对媒体和新闻作出解释，再现和重构记者的意指，揭示潜藏的文字背后的原意和内在意义。
Media criticism interprets media and news work in hermeneutic ways, and presents the audience with a cross-sectioned text that shows the relationship between the media and the outside world or the significance of news. The news text is an ideological carrier, and full understanding and analysis of this textual world can enable people to reach a true understanding of the media and news. Overcoming the unfamiliarity and distance between the text and the interpreter, and the fusion of the text, so as to assimilate the meaning of the text and create another text, showing the witness and wit of criticism is the complete process of media criticism. Media criticism ultimately needs to explain the media and the news, reproduce and reconstruct the meaning of journalists, and reveal the original meaning and the underlying meaning behind the hidden text.
