In late May 1988, a total of 15 people from China’s biogas technology delegation participated in the 5th International Symposium on Anaerobic Digestion in Bologna, Italy. The number of experts and scholars from all countries attending this session amounted to 570. The 5th International Anaerobic Digestion Conference presents the latest research and development status of the international anaerobic digestion community, expounds the basic research and process application of anaerobic digestion, especially for dealing with refractory and some toxic chemical wastewater. Several papers describe the quality improvement of biogas fermentation effluents and briefing on the experiences of China and a few developing countries in applying anaerobic digestion technology to resource recovery - the comprehensive utilization of biogas.
