The immunoblot test was used to observe the reaction of the adult Schistosoma japonicum protein with the sera from patients infected with Schistosoma japonicum. It was confirmed that Schistosoma japonicum and Schistosoma mansoni had the same 31/32 KD diagnostic protein; both originated from the adult intestine: The reaction of the antibodies is basically the same. However, the two schistosome proteins differ in at least one antigenic determinant. Serum test results of Schistosoma japonicum diagnostic proteins and schistosomiasis patients and other parasitic diseases confirmed that the adult schistosomula 31 / 32KD protein could be used for serological diagnosis of schistosomiasis japonica.
