1988年12月,沐浴着改革开放的春风,在历史机遇的推动下,辽宁省血栓病中西医结合医疗中心应运而生,10万元起家,自立更生,艰苦创业,以中医药为本,以血栓病专科为特色,以临床科研为后盾,走出了一条医疗科研型的发展道路。全院现有职工550人,副高职以上41人,博士生导师1人,硕土生导师4人,硕士生9人,博士生、硕士生在读6人。医院固定资产8000万元,医疗设备总值3615万元,拥有美国GE公司新型开放式永磁型磁共振,德国西门子全身螺旋CT,美国ATL公司HDI-3000型彩色超声多普勒、美国GE公司胃肠X光机、日本全自动血脂分离系统,瑞典AKTA（音读阿科塔）蛋白纯化系统等先进的科研、诊断、治疗设备。医院年门诊量近27万人次,日均门诊量近1000人次,年住院量近6000人次,2001年业务收入5400万元。1994年医院通过二级甲等中医院、全国示范中医院验收,被辽宁省卫生厅批准为辽宁省血
