For the past 30 years, specialized insect radars have greatly deepened our understanding of insect migration, especially at night up to 1 km altitude. Long-term monitoring of early insect radars was not possible and this deficiency has now been overcome by a new type of fully automated radar. The low cost of Insect Monitoring Radar (IMR), which automatically acquires and remotely transmits observations over the telephone network, enables the ZLC to acquire high-quality flight parameters for moving individuals to improve target discrimination. Currently, two IMRs have been installed in semi-arid outback areas of eastern Australia, namely Lepidoptera pests of the Lepidoptera and Chortoicetesterminifera, and their migration continues to be monitored, both reported here Part of the radar monitoring results. The IMR provides several parameters required to construct a migration system for insects, ie, the probability of a migration event occurring in a given season in response to a particular environmental condition and signal, providing information to the pest management agency and informants on the main move-in Events and warnings of possible immigration of targeted pests. Moreover, IMRs can be used for more extensive ecological monitoring, especially for quantitative monitoring of inter-annual variations in airborne biological flows.
