Objective To study the effects of plant extraneous hormones GA3 and IAA on the growth and the accumulation of tanshinone in Salvia miltiorrhiza. Methods Greenhouse quartz sand pot experiment and indoor analysis combined method. Results GA3 alone was beneficial to the increase of aboveground biomass of Salvia miltiorrhiza, but inhibited the biomass of underground part. GA3 at low and high concentrations was beneficial to the accumulation of three tanshinones (cryptotanshinone, tanshinone Ⅰ, tanshinone Ⅱ A) , The application of medium concentration of GA3 is not conducive to the accumulation of three kinds of tanshinone. The effects of IAA alone on the biomass of aerial part and underground part of Salvia miltiorrhiza showed the trend of increasing first and then decreasing, but the difference was insignificant, and the effect on the plant height and root length was not significant. Generally speaking, low IAA (0.5mg / L) was beneficial to the accumulation of three kinds of tanshinones in Salvia miltiorrhiza. However, with the increase of IAA concentration, only the amount of cryptotanshinone increased, while the amount of tanshinone Ⅰ and tanshinone ⅡA decreased. When the two hormones were applied, the combined treatment of low concentration of GA3 and low concentration of IAA significantly promoted the growth of Salvia miltiorrhiza, and significantly increased the amount of three tanshinones in Salvia miltiorrhiza roots. Conclusion The application of appropriate exogenous plant hormones GA3 and IAA can promote the growth of Salvia miltiorrhiza and the accumulation of three kinds of tanshinone in Salvia miltiorrhiza.
