书写小楷的用笔,以硬毫笔为宜.市面上可以买到的狼毫小楷,如红毛、红豆或软硬适中的七紫三羊、小白云等,总以健、齐、尖、圆笔之四德为佳.书写小楷时,笔宜开足.开新笔之法是先将笔浸入温水之中让其自然化开,洗去含在毫中的胶水,再于废宣纸上舐尖后挂起使其阴干,隔一日后方可使用.用时,先将笔浸清水中濡透,然后在废纸上转动笔杆,四面揩拭,再蘸墨作书.
