A building with a slurry-masonry foundation in an alpine region is often caused by the frost heave of the foundation soil. In order to explore the basis of the anti-frost heaving approach, since 1975, we have built a few buildings with cement-free turbulent stone and water-blended sand on a certain farm in Daqing (50 degrees north latitude) and achieved initial success. Then, in a 3,600 square meter brick-concrete civil complex (Figure 1), further experiments were conducted. Since the completion of the building in 1978, it has experienced four severe winters and the test of freezing and thawing. No abnormal phenomenon has been observed, the main structure is firm and stable, and the entire building is evenly settled. A joint investigation team was formed by the Science and Technology Department of the Heilongjiang Provincial Construction Commission and relevant technical departments
