Objective To investigate the role of Survivin and VEGF-C in the prognosis of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma in high incidence areas. Methods The expression of Survivin and VEGF-C protein in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma was detected by immunohistochemistry. 83 cases of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma patients were Linzhou residents, followed up for more than 5 years, preoperative radiotherapy and chemotherapy did not receive. Results The 5-year survival rates of Survivin positive group and VEGF-C positive group were significantly lower than those of negative group (P <0.05). According to the expression of Survivin and VEGF-C, the molecular level multivariate grading model was established. The 5-year survival rates of patients in 0, 1 and 2 groups were significantly different (χ2 = 32.20, P <0.001). Conclusions Combined detection of Survivin and VEGF-C expression can provide more accurate prognostic information and may be helpful for clinical evaluation of patients prognosis and development of individualized treatment regimens.
