黄颡鱼,鲶形目,鲿科,黄颡鱼属。俗称昂刺鱼、黄腊丁等。体长,腹平,体后部稍侧扁。头大且平扁,吻圆钝,口大,下位,上下颌均具绒毛状细齿,眼小。须4对,大多数种上颌须特别长。无鳞。背鳍和胸鳍均具发达的硬刺,刺活动时能发声。胸鳍短小。体青黄色,大多数种具不规则的褐色斑纹;各鳍灰黑带黄色。多在湖泊静水或江河缓流中营底栖生活,尤喜生活在具有腐败物和淤泥的浅滩处。
