北京青年报社每年要花3亿多元购买新闻纸,花1亿多元在北京4个印刷厂印刷报纸。过去,这些都是单纯的消费行为,就是花钱;现在,他们提出了一个理念:“把成本变成资本”,根据这个理念,报社把消费行为变成了经营行为。 北京青年报社对新闻纸的需求相当大,他们便把这个巨大的需求转化成市场运作的优势。因为报社一年的耗纸量相当于一个造纸厂年产量的1/3,这就使其可以掌握纸张交易中的主动权,用规模化的购买来压低纸价,许多中小规模的报社做不到这一点,于是北京青年报社便扮演了他们的纸张代理商的角色。现在,经北京青年报社销售的可以双面彩印的高档新闻纸的销售量已经达到了全国的1/10。
