黄秉维先生是当代中国地理学研究的主要组织者和带头人,曾长期担任中国科学院地理研究所所长、名誉所长,中国地理学会理事长、名誉理事长。他开拓了热量和水分平衡、化学物理和生物地理群落等自然地理三大方向,组织了中国水土保持、综合自然区划及热量与水分平衡等重大课题的研究,提出了开展陆地地球系统科学与区域可持续发展研究新方向。他提倡学科交叉,强调综合研究,重视理论与实践相结合,主张地理学研究为国家建设服务。
Mr. Huang Bingwei is the main organizer and leader of geography research in contemporary China. He has long served as the director and honorary director of the Institute of Geography, Chinese Academy of Sciences, chairman and honorary chairman of the Chinese Geographical Society. He pioneered the three major directions of natural geography such as calorie and water balance, chemical physics and biogeographical community, organized research on such major issues as soil and water conservation, integrated natural zoning and heat and water balance in China, and put forward the proposal of carrying out research on terrestrial Earth system science and regional The new direction of sustainable development research. He advocates interdisciplinary studies, emphasizes comprehensive research, emphasizes the combination of theory and practice, and advocates that geography study serves the nation’s construction.
