加拿大环境部大气环境局(AES)正在组建一个新的通讯系统(NCS)。该系统的一个重要特征是采用被称为METSIS的卫星网络,以便把天气资料通过广播传输给分布在加拿大各地的气象台站。与SPAR宇航公司有关系的加拿大通信卫星公司已被指定为地面站的提供者。METSIS的第一期工程包括一个上行信道地面站和九个资料单收地面站,本期工程将于1986年投入运行。第二期工程将扩充到70多个地面站,于1988年完成。此外,AES正在购置用来管理地面站输入、输出数据流的设备和通讯软件。
Atmospheric Environment Agency (AES) of Environment Canada is forming a new communications system (NCS). An important feature of the system is the use of a satellite network known as METSIS to transmit weather data over the air to meteorological stations distributed throughout Canada. Canadian Communications Satellite Corporation, affiliated with SPAR Aerospace, has been designated as a ground station provider. The first phase of the METSIS project includes an upstream channel ground station and nine data receiving ground stations, which will be operational in 1986. The second phase of the project will be expanded to more than 70 ground stations, completed in 1988. In addition, AES is acquiring equipment and communications software for managing incoming and outgoing data flow from ground stations.
