On December 9, 1968, the debut performance of a musical piece in Hamburg, Germany led to a political incident. This remarkable work is the oratorio “Das Floβder Medusa” by contemporary German composer Hans Werner Henze. This oratorio is dedicated to Guevara, the revolutionary leader of Cuba (1928-1967) and has a strong sense of revolution. At the beginning of the show, when the left-wing students provocatively put a red flag on the stage, the fellow choir of Germany shouted: “We do not want to sing under the red flag.” And the concert suddenly plunged into chaos. World Premiere debut this died.
