贾宝玉是《红楼梦》中塑造的反对封建礼教、性格叛逆又多情、反对男尊女卑的封建观念、关心体贴婢女、反对科举考试的、具有初步的民主意识的典型形象。他的性格的形成和发展与他所处的女性势力强于男性势力的腐朽没落的封建贵族家庭有直接的关系,是没落的封建贵族家庭造就了他的性格,是他的敢想又不敢做、不敢完全冲开封建礼教的性格造就了他的悲剧色彩的命运。
