Alice Walker, a contemporary American black novelist and poet and short story writer, and her masterpiece “Purple,” is composed of a series of letters describing the life of a black little girl named Celie in the South. Celie was raped by her stepfather and forced to marry again to separate her from her beloved sister for many years while being abused by her husband. In the end, Celie worked hard with other women to combat sexual abuse and domestic violence, thus alleviating her own trauma. In the work, the author expresses his own inquiry into understanding and sympathy for the feelings of black women and the liberation of black women.
