Objective To investigate the relationship between children with attention deficit / hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and blood lead and blood trace elements. Methods The levels of lead, zinc, copper, iron, calcium and magnesium in 90 children with ADHD and 60 controls were measured by atomic absorption spectrophotometry. Results The level of blood lead (109.5 ± 24.9) μg / L in children with ADHD was significantly higher than that in the control group (99.2 ± 13.4 μg / L, P <0.01) 64.7) μmol / L was lower than that of control group (13.6 ± 2.1) μmol / L and (2360.9 ± 104.7) μmol / L respectively (P <0.01 and P <0.05). Conclusions Mild lead poisoning, zinc and calcium deficiency may be one of the causes of ADHD. In the diagnosis and treatment of ADHD, corresponding measures of detection and treatment should be taken
