虽然亨利·詹姆斯早期所创作的《一位女士的画像》是一部典型的现实主义作品,但是通过对小说叙述技巧的分析,结合现代主义文学作品的特点,可以看出詹姆斯在创作小说时进行了创新,使小说具有了现代主义特色。一方面,他将小说视角转化为女主人公的内在意识;另一方面,他将传统小说对情节的关注转化为现代主义小说对人物刻画的关注。对叙事视角和叙述艺术的创新是詹姆斯对现代主义小说发展作出的伟大贡献。
Although the portrait of a lady created by Henry James in the early days is a typical realist work, through the analysis of novel narrative skills and the characteristics of modernist literary works, it can be seen that James made his novel Innovation, so that the novel has the characteristics of modernism. On the one hand, he transformed the novel’s perspective into the heroine’s inner consciousness; on the other hand, he turned the focus of traditional novels on the plot into the concern of portraits in modernist novels. The innovation of narrative perspective and narrative art is James’s great contribution to the development of modernist novels.
