于兰英出生于吉林省双辽市一个普通的工人家庭,1984年参加工作,1992年下岗回家,同年的婚变又让她失去了家庭,雪上加霜的沉重打击让她无法面对,她绝望了,产生了厌世和轻生的念头。可上有高堂老母,下有嗷嗷待哺的孩子这一现实,促使她必须坚强地活下去,也许是逆境造就人才,于兰英后来的选择让她体会到人生的价值所在。
