It differs from a conventional two-phase flow in that it requires a liquid phase to flow continuously and contains dispersed air bubbles. This article begins with a discussion of the meaning of the term foam oil flow, and then briefly reviews the practice of foam oil flow in Canada. Next, the mechanism of pore size involved and the interaction between capillary forces and viscous forces are discussed. The advantages and disadvantages of the various mathematical models proposed in the numerical simulation of foam oil flow are discussed
