有关宋代瓦舍所讲“小说”的叙事者语言,其研究方法,除以“话本”研究外,还有根据“种本”研究。汇集“种本”的书籍有《绿窗新话》、《醉翁谈录》和明末万历年间刊行的《新话摭粹》。但是,这方法尚未得以适当运用。因为,上述诸书汇集的“种本”原摘自志怪、传奇,尽管那“种本”与原作间的差异正是研究“小说”的叙事者语言的重要资料,然而校订时,资料本来面貌受到恣意窜改简直无法复原。本论以上述“种本”集为对象,特别对收在《绿窗新话》及《新话摭粹》开头的,凡间男子巧“遇”神女、仙女的故事,比较探讨了原作与“种本”的不同,从而究明宋代“小说”特征。若以一言总结,就是宋代“小说”将求“遇”求欢的凡间女子换成了仙女来描写吧。
