Since the 1950s, American scholars advocated the use of parallel research methods in comparative literature to explore the inherent aesthetics value of multi-texts, and comparative studies came into being. From a comparative perspective, we study the similarities and differences between the writing styles of Vera Cather and Hemingway: one proposes the theory of “room without furniture”, and the other proposes “the principle of iceberg”. The two prominent writers who both belong to the 20th century American literary world are brave in innovations. They all advocate that writing style should be less popular and more appropriate than writing style. However, the two contracted expressions are different.
