Dr. Mohamed-Rachid Boulassel and colleagues from the McGill University Health Center in Montreal, Canada, conducted a cohort study of HIV-1 infection in the same highly effective antiretroviral (HAART) regimen in a large, multi-ethnic cohort study The metabolic differences in the incidence of metabolic side effects were investigated and evaluated and the results showed that metabolic tamoxifen associated with HAART often occurred and in most cases the incidence was the same for both males and females; however, lactic acidosis and hypersensitivity were more common in women More common in patients. The cohort study included 245 women and 723 men; the findings were published in the recently published Journal of Medical Virology. After initiating HAART, after adjusting for multiple factors, including age, CD4 cell count, viral load level, and confirmed medical history of AIDS, the researchers found
