方言是地域文化的重要载体和表现形式,是本土文化的重要组成部分。丰富多样的汉语方言是我国宝贵的语言资源,也是不可再生的文化遗产。为传承东莞本土文化,抢救保存地方语言,推动东莞文化名城建设,2014年初,东莞市档案局启动了方言档案建立工作,努力构建内容完备、体系健全的东莞方言档案资源数据库,以保存记录和历史传承为目的进行合理利用,目前已初见成效。
